Internship in bio-intensive market gardening
Market gardening trainee
At Jardins de la Valette, we apply the bio-intensive growing methods I learned from Jean-Martin Fortier and Maud-Hélène Desroches, founders of Jardins de la Grelinette in Quebec. After an internship on their farm in 2010, I decided to transpose these practices to my small farm in Sanvensa, France.
You'll be working on a micro-farm of just under 4,000 m2, including 1,300 m2 under glass, using production techniques that respect the environment and biodiversity, on permanent beds to minimize soil disturbance and allow micro-organisms to thrive.
As a trainee, you'll be able to get involved in all stages of vegetable production, from seed preparation to tillage and fertilization.
Internship terms and conditions
Places are limited, with a maximum of 2 trainees at any one time. Accommodation is available on site: a mobile home in an old, unheated building with two bedrooms, an outdoor shower and kitchen, and a dry toilet. Meals are not provided, so it's up to you to cook on the premises, although you do have access to seasonal vegetables.
Internships are unpaid.
Only internships with an agreement are accepted (schoolchildren, people returning to work, project leaders...), so we prefer internships of at least 4 consecutive weeks.
